Aloe Striata, 10 x 8", Oil on Artist Board, 2011. This image is from a series of plein air paintings done at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens close to Pasadena, California. It is of Aloe Striata and was painted in the Desert Garden. You might think the desert doesn’t hold much promise for color, but of all the areas at The Huntington, the desert garden made the most use of my pallet. The Huntington is an artists dream. I could have painted for years with the variety of gardens and views afforded by their well kept grounds.
