Athena, 20x16", Oil on Linen, 2013. The model for this painting is Jessica. I spotted Jessica while shopping near The Woodlands, Texas. She has terrific features and amazing hair. This particular painting of Jessica is entitled "Athena." It was included in a show at The Garden District Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana. The exhibition was centered around commemorating the NOLA institution, The Times Picayune, the much loved newspaper that had recently reduced its circulation to three days a week. The frame of this painting is inlaid with excerpts from the Picayune’s coverage of the devastation and rebuilding related to Hurricane Katrina. I chose the title "Athena" to represent NOLA as the goddess of architecture--whose main nemesis is Poseidon, the god of the sea. Sold
