Myles, 18" x 14", Oil on Linen, 2014. The model for this painting is Myles. This was his second time to pose for the Monday painting group, which I attend on a regular basis in The Woodlands, Texas. I positioned myself nearly straight on and his gaze is only slightly to the left. Compositionally, I chose to paint his hat, face and a portion of his shirt with heavy, opaque strokes, while leaving the background and clothing to merge into the loosely painted transparent background wash. This direct approach, along with his somewhat furrowed brow lends an intensity to the painting. This painting appeared in the July/August 2015 issue of Fine Art Connoisseur in their "Three to Watch" feature. Available
