Scarlet Ribbon, 10x8", oil on linen, 2015. A loud crack at my back window alerted me to the death of this poor sparrow. A large receding shadow had me guessing that a hawk was pursuing it. I set up this still life with scriptures from Matthew in mind.Matthew 10:29-31, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny ? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." The scarlet ribbon in this painting represents the ultimate expressions of God's love and protection for us through Christ. The scarlet thread of blood sacrifice that starts in Genesis and culminates in the Cross. Available
