9 x 12", oil on linen, 2015, Available from the Artist $500
This was painted en plein air at the 2015 Plein Air Convention in Monterrey, CA. Convention artists were painting all around Fisherman’s Wharf. Aimee Erickson, a good friend and talented artist, and I painted this same street musician from different angles.
I employed quick express brushwork to capture the moment and rhythm of the scene. Apparently, his guitar case earnings combined with the model fee money Aimee and I gave him amounted to better than his average take. The title of this piece is a tongue-in-cheek reference to what the musician said he would spend his money on.
