6 x 30", oil on linen panel, 2016.
This is a studio painting created for the 2016 Telluride Plein Air Invitational. The source material for this painting were Plein Air studies and photos taken in July 2015. I love painting this view and have painted versions of it at all hours of the day. All but a few were painting on location en Plein Air.
In this painting, I face East toward the rising sun. With the morning sunrise already painted, I did a few quick color studies. I love the hazy blue of the distant box canyon. Look closely and you can just make out the distant Falls that flow into the San Miguel River that runs through Telluride. available
